Transfer duty is often called stamp duty. Use Revenue NSW’s calculators as a starting point for your budget and check any eligibility conditions that apply to your purchase. An estimate is not a final assessment.
Find official land values and property information through NSW’s land-value tools. A government land value is different from a sale price for a home. If land area or boundaries matter to your decision, raise this during contract review and discuss whether a survey is needed.
Ask what the inspector will inspect, what is excluded and whether inaccessible areas require further investigation. Use the findings to ask questions before you become committed to the purchase.
When buying an apartment or other strata property, investigate the owners corporation’s records, finances, meeting minutes, planned works and levies. A strata records inspection and a physical building inspection answer different questions.
Understand when you become bound, whether cooling-off rights apply and your specific deadline. Ask for advice before signing, bidding at auction or agreeing to waive rights.
Understand how title insurance differs from inspections and building insurance, which questions to ask, and where to find Stewart Title’s coverage and exclusions documents.
On realestate.com.au, choose Buy, enter a suburb or postcode, apply your filters and run the search. Select Map in the results to explore the area. Check the listing details with the selling agent and have the contract reviewed before committing.
Use the provider’s own website or app. City Peak Conveyancing does not operate a listings service and is not affiliated with realestate.com.au.
Look up an agent’s licence
Use the official NSW register to check an agent by name or licence number. Check that the person and business match the details you have been given. A licence-register entry is not a recommendation of service quality.
Keep a copy of the listing, obtain the complete contract and gather your inspection reports. Send us your questions about timing, special conditions and the documents before you sign or bid.
Whether you're buying, selling, or still working out whether the contract in your inbox is any good — send it through. We'll come back to you with something useful.
Email the full PDF from the agent — including the annexures and the planning certificate — to info@citypeakconveyancing.com.au, and let us know if there's an auction or offer date we're working to.
