What to check

1. Match the identity. Compare the licence holder’s name and number with the details provided by the conveyancer. Ask for clarification if the trading name differs.
2. Review the status and dates. Check the current record rather than relying solely on a certificate or screenshot.
3. Read the conditions. Look for restrictions and the category of work authorised.
4. Read the register’s limitations. Disciplinary information is subject to the reporting dates explained on the NSW Government page.

Can’t find the person you are dealing with?

Ask for the exact licensed name and licence number before drawing a conclusion. Solicitors are regulated separately and may not appear in the conveyancer register. Ask which professional register applies and verify the details with the relevant regulator.
